The floctronic sensor shall be used to monitor the condition of the feed digested sludge to the membrane filter press. The sensor shall be mounted at the inlet pipe of the membrane filter press to provide information regarding the "floc" condition. A sludge/polymer mixing device shall be incorporated into the sludge pressure feed line to ensure optimum flocculation and mixing at all times. 2. The signal of the floctronic sensor shall be used to control the pneumatically actuated valves to divert the sludge flow back to the existing sludge holding sump such that the feed sludge to the membrane filter press is at condition suitable for the dewatering process. 3. The floctronic sensor and control unit shall be used to provid continuous on-line monitoring on the sludge feed pressure, sludge feed flow rate and polyelectrolyte dosage are at the optimal rate by sensing the condition of the flocculated sludge during the operation of feeding sludge to the membrane filter press. The optimal rates shall be dewatering capacity and dewatered sludge solids content. 4. The floctronic sensor and control unit whall comprise, but not be limited to, the following: (a) Floctronic sensor (i) This sensor shall be mounted on the feed pipe of the membrance filter press. A sampling paddle wheel shall be used to sample the floccuated sludge into the sensor head. (ii) The sensor shall have a tungsten halogen lamp and a device to sense the ratio of absorbed or reflected light to give an analogue output signal for the particle size and distribution of the sample. (iii) A glass inspection cover shall be provide to inspect the flocculated sludge sample. (iv) The sampling paddle shall have provision to avoid contamination from preceding samples ad to be self cleaning. (v) The sensor shall be suitable for the digested sludge which entrain with bio-gas. (b) Controlling PLC (i) The controlling PLC shall receive signal outputs from the floctronic sensor. (ii) Base on the aforementioned signals, the controlling PLC shall have preset logic to control the pneumatically actuated valves to divert the sludge flow into the membrane filter press or to the sludge holding sump.
